What happens after an iPhone battery replacement

On iPhone XR, XS and later, Parts and Service History lists the battery. Standard grade appears as Unknown Part, Premium as Used, and Genuine as Genuine Apple Part. On iPhone X and older there's no parts notice.

With Genuine grade, Battery Health reads from the new battery. With Standard and Premium, what you see depends on the model and iOS version — some show the new capacity, some don't show a percentage for a battery iOS can't verify.

No special routine needed. Use the phone normally. The percentage shown in the first few charge cycles can be a little off while iOS learns the new battery; it settles on its own.

• Face ID and Touch ID aren't connected to the battery and are not affected.
• Your photos, chats and apps stay on the phone. A battery job doesn't erase anything — but a backup beforehand is always a good habit.
• Your passcode stays the same. We'll ask for it at the counter so the technician can test the phone with you after the replacement.

We fit a fresh adhesive seal every time the phone is opened. Even so, no repair shop can promise the same water resistance as a sealed factory phone. Treat it as splash-proof, not waterproof.

• The phone may run warm on the first day while it re-indexes. That's normal.
• If it still shuts down early, drains noticeably faster than before the repair, or the screen lifts, come back. That's what the warranty is for.
